Perette Godwin - Reporter

Perette Godwin was born and raised along the coast of Southern California. Since high school she knew she wanted to be in the news industry.

Perette earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast News at San Diego State University.  While in school, she interned at several television stations, including what was then the WB, her most rewarding internship and the launching point for her career.

After college, Perette took a slight detour in her career path, before returning to broadcast news.  She worked at San Diego State University and in the non-profit arena, including work with the American Heart Association, the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Center for Community Solutions, a domestic violence agency.

Eventually returning to broadcast, Godwin worked as a traffic reporter and on air talent at Jazz 88.3, San Diego City College radio station.  In 2002, Godwin returned to journalism news, working as a morning anchor/reporter at KYMA in Yuma, Arizona.  She would go on to produce and anchor a 5 p.m. show, and co-anchor the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts.  Godwin has been honored with eight Arizona Associated Press awards including, "Best Newscast", "Best Live Reporting", "Best Serious Feature" and "Best Light Feature."

Returning to San Diego, Godwin became a morning anchor/reporter and executive producer and host for the WB's public affairs show, "Take 5."

A big believer in giving back to the community, Godwin volunteers her time with a number of local charities and reads at schools and libraries.  In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends.
