Police: Woman fights off, chases down would-be rapist
SAN DIEGO - San Diego police believe a Tierrasanta man arrested Wednesday may be the man responsible for a yearlong series of local sex assaults.

"We believe it is the suspect, but before we charge him with those cases, we have to get some more confirmation," said SDPD Capt. Jim Collins.

Thomas Parker, 39, allegedly confronted the 33-year-old woman and threatened her with a knife in her garage about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, then grabbed her and tried to close the garage door. The woman fought back and prevented the door from closing, Collins said.

"The victim yelled, she screamed, she got people's attention
Based on Parker's physical characteristics and attire and the circumstances of the assault, detectives believe he is the assailant responsible for six other home-invasion sex crimes, Collins said. Detectives will use DNA evidence to determine if Parker can be connected to those crimes, he said.

The woman in Wednesday's attack was the only one of the seven victims to fight back against her attackers, police said.
