Driver crashes in Carlsbad while fleeing Border Patrol
SAN DIEGO - A 29-year-old suspected illegal immigrant was arrested this morning after he crashed a car while fleeing Border Patrol agents in Carlsbad, authorities said.

The brief chase began shortly before 6 a.m. when agents tried to pull over the man's Chevrolet Geo on northbound Interstate 5, Border Patrol Agent Mark Endicott said.

The Geo exited the freeway onto Palomar Airport Road and headed east until its driver attempted a U-turn at Hidden Valley Road and the small car collided with a pickup truck, Endicott said, adding that the Geo overturned.
