SAN DIEGO – San Diego Chargers fired defensive coordinator Greg Manusky and announced his replacement Thursday.
After one year on the job, Manusky was replaced by the team’s linebackers coach John Pagano, head coach Norv Turner said during a press conference.
The news comes two days after Chargers President Dean Spanos announced that Turner and general manager A.J. Smith would keep their jobs for another year.
Pagano was promoted to defensive coordinator after spending 10 seasons with San Diego, coaching the linebackers since 2005.
Chargers ended their 2011 season 8-8 and missed the playoffs for the second year in a row.
