A film graduate is heading to the superbowl in February as a finalist in the Doritos Superbowl commercial challenge.

Brendan Hayward is an aspiring director and is finally seeing all the pieces come together. "I've just been trying to kick in the door and this is the big opportunity I've gotten," says Hayward.

His commercial idea is a competition between two men, and a little slapstick comedy, call "The Smackout."

Hayward described his idea as something like this, "I'm a big football fan, so I just thought of all the ways that guys play games to see who has to get the pizza, or make a run for doritos. So I thought it would be absurd for them to slap each other in the face as another way to play a game."

The commercial took about a month to shoot and edit, which he was able to assemble on his home laptop. He and five other finalists will be heading to Miami, where they will find out who the winner of the commercial challenge is.

The three finalists will have their commercials aired during the super bowl, and depending on how well the rank on the USA Today ad meter, commercial creators have the opportunity to win up to $1,000,000.00.

Hayward is now promoting his commercial and hoping to gain some support from the voters at home, on his website Vote for the Smackout.
