SAN DIEGO -
A 24-year-old woman was in custody today on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run after allegedly striking a 16-year-old boy on a bicycle with her car near Sunset Cliffs.
The teen was struck shortly after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday while riding in a bicycle lane, according to San Diego police.
Former San Diego City Councilman Michael Zucchet witnessed the accident and followed the woman to her home on Bacon Street in Ocean Beach, police said. Zucchet called police and the officers went to the home and found the woman had fallen asleep.
She was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and- run.
The extent of the cyclist's injuries was not immediately reported. The woman's name was not immediately released.
