A man died early Christmas morning when his car veered
off Interstate 15 and collided with a tree.
The coroner's office is working today to identify him and notify his family.
Around 3 a.m., the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed heading southbound on Interstate 15 -- just south of the Interstate 805 connector near City Heights -- when his Ford Focus sedan veered off the roadway and collided with a tree, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Officials are working to identify the driver, who they said is a Hispanic man.
