The two suspects used credit cards and checks from a purse that was stolen at the Eternal Hills Memorial Park Mortuary and Crematory in Oceanside on January 12, Oceanside Police Lt. Leonard Matt said.
While Celena and her husband, who don’t want to give their last name, were visiting the grave of their 5-year old daughter who passed away from heart problems in April 2011, suspects grabbed her wallet from her car, she said.
“We just came for a moment to put flowers on her grave and wow - it was gone,” said Celena. “I can’t believe someone would do this to us.”
By the time she arrived home, the suspected crooks were already in action, she said.
Mata said the suspects spent $10,000 on electronics and clothing with the stolen cards.
