Nerves are rattled in the communities of Kensington and North Park. There are a couple of armed robbers that struck at night for no apparent reason. For local business owners, it's an eye-opener.

"It never happened so close. I mean, it happened right next door. I mean that's really bad. That could've happened to us as we were closing the store," said Victor Vallejo, owner of a jewelry store in Kensington.

Three robberies happened in roughly a 30-minute period late Wednesday night.

"I actually subscribe to San Diego Police Department's report for the safety of our employee's and it's usually and it's mostly tickets and citations," said Sarah Stroud, general manager for Kensington Grill.

According to police, the robberies started at about 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Two men were armed with a shotgun and semiautomatic handgun. They got out of a dark sedan and robbed a man of his wallet and cell phone as he was walking from his house to his car on 31st Street and Landis Street in North Park.

Just minutes after, police said those same money robbed another person of their wallet and cell phone off Herman Avenue and Upas Street.

Finally, at about 11:15 p.m. the third robbery took place in Kensington in front of the Landmark Ken Cinema.

" There was two men actually that came out of the theater, and they were walking back to their car, and so the suspects approached them and threatened them with a shotgun," said Monica Munoz, San Diego Police Department spokesperson.

Police said nobody was injured.

Police also said they possibly left in a gray four door Hyundai, older Maxima or Camry type vehicle. and the license plate begins with the number 6 and may have the letters O and C in it.
