CARLSBAD, Calif. -
Legoland California has called off plans to install a Lego exhibit honoring Michael Jackson, citing unresolved legal issues regarding the use of the late pop star's image.
Park spokeswoman Julie Estrada said a tribute scene depicting Jackson as a 4-inch-tall miniature was halted yesterday.
The park planned to choose one of five prototype scenes of Jackson and unveil it today at its "Miniland U.S.A." in Carlsbad. The choices included a "Thriller" or "Billie Jean" theme, or a scene of Jackson wearing his signature white glove posed in front of Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Estrada said it is unlikely Legoland will try to resolve the legal issues and pursue the project.
Jackson died last week in Los Angeles at age 50.
