SAN DIEGO—
Miss California USA may be in trouble with pageant officials. The directors of the state pageant are looking into whether she violated her contract by working with a national group opposed to gay marriage, and by posing semi-nude when she was a teenage model.
Carrie Prejean, who attends San Diego Christian College, was the first runner-up in the Miss USA pageant last month. In response to a question from an openly gay pageant judge, she said she favors limiting marriage to a man and a woman. She has since said the answer may have cost her the title.
In the past ten days, she's made televised appearances at her church and on behalf of the National Organization for Marriage.
A pageant spokesman says it looks like she's violated several sections of the 12-page contract that all prospective contestants were required to sign.
It prohibits the title-holder from making personal appearances, giving interviews or making commercials without permission from pageant officials. It also asks if they have ever been photographed nude or partially nude.
