Three decades after a mid-air collision above North Park, a new documentary debuted Wednesday night. The filmmakers conducted hundreds of interviews and featured never before seen footage. The film Return to Dwight and Nile depicted the crash of PSA flight 182. The documentary is named after the street corner where the 727 airplane landed after colliding with a Cessna.

"I'm just overwhelmed with the turn out," said documentary maker David Fresina who wasn't associated with the crash that killed 144 people.

Fresina said he felt compelled to make the film.

"One of the big things I discovered doing this was that San Diego hasn't healed from this and by my doing this, it's helping these people get through it and move on," he said.

The documentary was shown at UltraStar Cinemas in Mission Valley to a sold out audience.

"Just sitting in the movie theater I looked over at my son and said, "You realize everybody here lost somebody on that flight," said Tina Rutz who lost her brother in the crash.

Many people said the documentary brought them together with others who shared the same pain.

"It was amazing experience just to be able to have the opportunity to tell our story about our brother and then being able to meet people that have suffered a loss as well," said Annie Carnie, Rutz's sister.

The 56 minute documentary airs again Thursday at 8 p.m. at UltraStar Cinemas in Mission Valley. It will be out on DVD in the next few months.
