Body Found Near Lindbergh Field (January 19, 2012) |
San Diego police homicide detectives arrested 55-year-old Shane Grattan in the 1600 block of Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach about 11:15 a.m., SDPD Lt. Ernie Herbert said.
Grattan is accused of fatally beating 45-year-old Darrin Joseph, whose body was found by a pedestrian Jan. 19 in a patch of shrubbery next to a San Diego Port District parking lot off North Harbor Drive in the Driscoll Wharf area of Point Loma.
Prior to the arrival of patrol officers, passers-by saw a man later identified as Grattan walking out of the area, Herbert said.
Authorities have not disclosed a suspected motive for the slaying, and it was unclear what type of relationship, if any, the two homeless men might have had.
Grattan was booked into county jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Friday afternoon.
