Church, home burn in Logan Heights
It was certainly no holiday for firefighters battling a blaze in Logan Heights that burned part of a church and an adjoining home. Firefighters were called to the 900 block of South 30th Street around 9:45 a.m. Thursday. They had the blaze put out about 45 minutes later. Investigators say something was placed too close to the water heater inside the church office and that sparked the blaze which caused $140,000 worth of damage.
