SAN DIEGO—
A motorcycle enthusiast is riding for a reason and it's all to help the San DIego USO serve military families.Stephen Woodcock is half-way through his trip around the country on his Harley Davidson. It took him nearly 20 days to get to San Diego- halfway through his intended 12,818 miles taking him through the four corners of the country.
"We're hoping to raise 12,818 dollars minimum which is a dollar a mile not counting how many times i get lost," Woodcock chuckled sitting atop his beloved bike.
Woodcock is supporting the USO- raising money and awareness for the non-profit. His daughter Sara Pagano works for the SD USO.
"I think it's wonderful," said Pagano. "He's combined his passion and purpose and that purpose right now is going to bring so much support to our troops that is very well needed."
Woodcock said his time volunteering for the non-profit convinced him riding across the country was the best way to celebrate turning 60.
"I've been just so taken by the people in America how helpful they've been and how friendly they are and I guess all I can say is America is still alive and well," said Woodcock. "Thank God it is."
Woodcock heads out of SD early Monday morning. All the money raised goes to the USO. If you'd like to contribute to his cause
