SAN DIEGO - Santa's workshop is going high tech this holiday season.

Many classic toys have been updated for the 21st century. An electronic game of solitare replaces a deck of cards. Instead of game night with family and friends, you can now play yahtzee, monopoly or battle ship in the palm of your hand. If you want to skateboard, you can do it inside your home now. Just hook it up to your Xbox and sit in front of your television. And it's easier to play make believe with stuffed animals when your panda can also move and giggle.

"I know there is a baby out there that seems like real life. It cries and it looks real and sounds real," said one mother.

Take Dora the Explorer. You can now change her eye color, her earrings and necklace.

"Kids nowadays -- their toys are their best friends. They don't need any interaction with human beings because the dolls talk to them," parent Adio Nembhard said.

Classic toys seem boring to 8-year-old Oshae Hawkins, .

"I think children start out much younger. They just learn so much more than in my generation," said Mary Alio.

But other parents have mixed feelings.

"I think parents nowadays are trying to push their kid to advance quicker, and I think people should back off and let things play out on their own," Nembard said.
