Arizona Man Indicted for Traveling to California for Sex with Minor

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KTLA) -- An Arizona man has been federally indicted for traveling from Arizona to California to have sex with a minor victim.

A federal grand jury in Riverside returned an indictment Wednesday charging Michael Killala, 42, of Peoria Arizona, with traveling interstate for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct with a minor.

According to the criminal complaint, Killala traveled to California twice to meet the victim, with whom he had been corresponding on line.

The victim's mother contacted the Ontario Police Department to report that her son had been in contact with Killala, and that Killala had traveled from Arizona to Riverside County.

The complaint alleges that Killala drove the victim to a hotel for the purpose of engaging in sex, and that Killala purchased vodka for the victim.

Killala was taken into custody at a hotel in Ontario. A search of Killala's home was executed in Arizona.

Based on evidence obtained during their investigation, detectives and agents in Los Angeles and Arizona believe Killala may have had access to other minors.

They are distributing his photo to seek information as to whether additional victims exist.

Killala is scheduled to be arraigned on February 8 in Riverside. If convicted, Killala faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison.
