At a time when most businesses in San Diego County are struggling, Lexus Escondido is emerging from the recession in style
"We were fortunate. I think a lot of it deals with your employees and your management. I mean we are a Ma and Pa shop like everyone else," said General Sales Manager Marc Bechard.
After seven years in the making, it's finally open. While most dealership were closing up shop, Bechard says they had different plans.
It's expected to attract business from all over the region. The 326,000-square-foot building does more than sell cars. Here, you can practice your swing on a $50,000 golf simulator. Across the way, you can drop off the kids at the children's center, get a massage or maybe head to the cafe for a capuccino.
"It wasn't just about being a Lexus Dealership and servicing Lexus. It was something we wanted to be actively involved, where you could have community events," Bechard said.
The west terrace holds around three hundred people and can host weddings and private parties. At the East Tower you can see maybe a concert, a film festival or maybe attend a private fundraiser. That's not all, there's a fully equipped bar, a restaurant still under construction, a WiFi business center a library and so much more!
"Everyone wants to see a shiny new toy. I think that any time you are generating traffic through your community, it gives everyone an opportunity, whether you're a small business owner or large business owner," Bechard said.
The grand opening will take place once everything inside is completed. The restaurant is expected to open in a few months and following will be retail shops.
