Paul Leonard Newman was born January 26, 1925 in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He discovered his love of acting from a very early age. He started in theater as a 7-year-old at his elementary school. Later he would star opposite the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Robert Redford.
Newman's personal life has had its shares of ups and downs. The marriage to his first wife, Jackie Witte, lasted only 9 years (1949-1958) but he ended up with the love of his life, actress Joanne Woodward, for the next 50 (1958-2008). Paul had three children with his first wife, a son - Scott, and two daughters - Susan and Stephanie. Sadly, Scott passed away due to an accidental drug overdose when he was just 28 years old. Paul and Joanne also had three children - all girls - Elinor, Melissa and Claire.
When he wasn't lighting up the big screen, Newman was busy racing cars with the Bob Sharp Racing team and spearheading charitable organizations. You can see his face on the front of many organic foods with his Newman's Own brand. All of the proceeds (after taxes) are then given to charitable causes.
